1. Overview
This Privacy Policy describes how Undercover IT Firm ("we", "us", or "our"), represented by developer Sharodshahi Al-Amin, collects, uses, and handles information when you use the Angry IP Scanner mobile application for Android (the "App").
Our commitment to privacy is absolute: Angry IP Scanner does not track you, does not show ads, and stores your scan results entirely on your local device.
2. Data Collection & Processing
2.1 On-Device Storage Only (Local Data)
The following data is generated locally by the App during your usage. It is saved in the App's private database sandbox and is never transmitted to our servers:
- Network Scan Results: Discovered IP addresses, response times (RTT), MAC addresses, hostname information, and open ports.
- Favorites & History: Scan ranges, subnet parameters, and lists you save for quick access.
- User Annotations: Any custom comments or notes you manually attach to discovered hosts.
2.2 Optional Third-Party Services (External Transmission)
The App includes a GeoIP Lookup fetcher which resolves geographic details (Country, City, ASN) for external, public IP addresses. This feature is disabled by default. If manually enabled:
- Public IP addresses are transmitted securely over HTTPS to the third-party API provider ip-api.com.
- No personal identity, local IP, or hardware information is transmitted.
- Please refer to ip-api.com's Legal Documentation for their privacy practices.
3. Device Permissions Explained
To perform its core network analysis tasks, the App requires the following system permissions:
- INTERNET: Required to ping hosts and probe TCP ports on local or remote networks.
- ACCESS_WIFI_STATE & ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: Used to identify your current Wi-Fi network subnet prefix (for "Scan My Subnet" convenience) and detect network switches.
- FOREGROUND_SERVICE: Used to keep network scans active if the App is placed in the background.
- POST_NOTIFICATIONS: Optionally alerts you when a long-running scan completes.
- VIBRATE: Provides haptic feedback on scan completion.
4. Data Security
We apply high-security standards on Android to isolate and safeguard your data:
- All local configurations are protected using Android’s Application Sandbox, isolating database files from other apps.
- Network scanning tasks run in memory and do not write plaintext system logs containing target IP information.
- You can clear all saved scan history and configurations at any time from the App’s settings.
